Blackburn Chemicals Limited Environmental Policy Statement

Blackburn Chemicals Limited is one of the leading manufacturers of antifoam and speciality surface-active chemicals. From our base in The North West of England we supply a wide variety of industries (including paper, food, paint and textiles among others) and service the needs of clients in over 50 countries.

In conducting our business we aim to manage and develop our activities, products and services with consideration for the environment and to monitor and continually improve our environmental performance through effective environmental management. Having established our environmental baseline, our Management Team has developed environmental systems to comply with the International Environmental Standard ISO 14001.  Our aim is to gain official external certification early 2006.

Our environmental management system has established environmental objectives and programmes to demonstrate our commitment to continual environmental improvement.

In pursuit of our environmental aims, our current objectives involve:-

  • Optimising the use of raw materials
  • Effectively managing our site water demands and effluent handling
  • Minimising the use of energy in production processes
  • Effectively recycling and re-using packaging
  • Managing and minimising waste

Our organisational structure incorporates an Environmental Committee and Environmental Manager. The company makes available the necessary resources in terms of personnel, finance and time.
